Okay, it's not a bad ending, and typically I would say that the main character getting killed after a major resolution like that is a good thing. But (whether good or bad) I tend to relate to Dante, and the present ending, well, it just seems to fit. Now you want to talk bad endings, what about Titanic? What happened to the fleet of alien craft that came and took all of the frozen bodies for experimentation (did you ever notice that there were no bodies found later on)?
