"Is Holden named after Catcher in the Rye’s Holden Caulfield?
Yes, indeedy. Catcher is one of Kevin’s favorite books. In fact, Banky was also named after a character from the book, Coach Ed Banky. He’s the basketball coach who lends out his car to his players so they can have sex in the backseat. Ed Banky, Banky Edwards… ooh, spooky."

: I always thought it was funny that Kevin Smith chose the main character in Chasing Amy to be named Holden (I'm a huge Catcher in the Rye fan)

: I finally bought Chasing Amy today(my Kevin Smith collection is complete) and I noticed a similarity between Holden and Holden Caulfield.

: Holden Caulfield cannot let go of the past, which is evident from his constant talking about Allie, his brother who died while he was young, his talking to Stradlater about how he used to play checkers with Jane, the girl who's been Stradlater latest "prize", and Holden's love for the museum, where everything is constant and unchanging; a complete representation of the past.

: In Chasing Amy, Holden cannot let go of Alyssa's sexual past.

: Now, I'm betting that Kevin did this on purpose, but what do you guys think?
