Building on what WFD said:
Kevin mentioned at Vulgarthon 2000 that they'd try to put on another one this year. There was also talk of a separate festival where View Askew would screen independent films made by fans. Plus there's been random buzz about a Red Bank premiere for VA5/J&SBSB...
Kevin also mentioned at V2K that the venue for these events would probably be the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank. The capacity of this place is between 1000 and 1500 people - more than enough for the amount of seats that VA has sold at past events. The difference is that at the Count Basie, it's all in one hall, not split up into two theaters with staggered schedules.
My theory on this venue stuff goes back to the events of '99: From what I remember, they looked into getting the Count Basie for the Dogma Premiere, but the theater had just torn down their big screen and projection system. When the Dogma event was held at the Clearview on White Street, Vincent (along with other professional film geeks in attendence) was not happy with the sound and/or the projection. The next event was V2K, where Vinnie-mac and crew came prepared with their own projection and sound system. This produced a better screening, but between the 'higher than ever' cost of renting out the Clearview, combined with the expense of providing their own sound and projection systems, the Count Basie seems to be worth the extra dough. If you're gonna go through all that hassle with custom projection and sound, you may as well put it all up at the Basie and forget about the two screens crap...
Again, this is all my own hodge-podge theory based on observations, rumors, and a few conversations that I actually had with Vincent on the subject.
So we're talkin about three possible events here, and we'll probably hear some rumblings about one or more of them over the summer. I'd LOVE to hear what Vincent and Kevin have to say on this subject, but I'm guessing that they're busy with more important stuff right now...
