Some of the new folks (i'll assume you are included in this category) who are interested in screenwriting/filmmaking should head over to the Film-411 board.
Quite a few of the regulars here posts over there (including Vincent among others) and it's dedicated to just this sort of thing. The board over there sometimes devolves into "which movie is better...?" type things, but some new blood might invigorate the place and start some new discussions.
