Yes, Marcia Gay Harden winning was an excellent surprise. And if we knew the tallies of the votes, I'm sure Cameron's script blew away everything else in that category. I'm sure Vanilla Sky will be recognized for its value if it's anywhere near as good as Cameron's other films--hopefully, the Academy will do some of their patented retrograde awarding (giving Russell Crowe the Oscar for Gladiator because he deserved it for The Insider, for example).

Thanks again!

: Yeah, I sent him an e-mail. It's not ALL bull, though. Here's what I
: mean: Marcia Gay Hart won for "Pollack" and Cameron won for
: "Almost Famous". This restored some faith in the Oscars for me.
: SOME faith. We all know that a lot of it is about hype, etc..., however,
: Marcia Gay Hart winning had nothing to do with anything other than
: her performance. Noone really saw Pollack, and she didn't do a shit
: load of PR to win it. It was her work, and with Cameron, it was his
: writing. THAT was cool, but Gladiator winning best picture and Almost
: Famous not even getting a nom, now THAT is bull!

: ...congratulate Cameron? I know you said it was pretty much bull, but
: it's gotta feel good that they recognized something of his genius. He
: looked so overwhelmed. It was a wonderful sight to see.

: : Thanks for the updates!
