: Personally,
I walked into the DVD section of a department store, and bought the movie. I had never seen it before, but I was pretty confident of it being THAT good, that I didn't think twice about buying it before I had seen it.

I wasn't disappointed in the least. It is now one of my favorite movies of all time. I have had it only a few days and I have seen it at least three times and have read all the Rolling Stone articles by Cameron Crowe. I think Kate Hudson more than deserves the Oscar nod, but I think she is in the wrong category. Maybe it is me, but she got an awful lot of screen time for a supporting actress role. I think Almost Famous was almost completely and totally snubbed by the Academy awards, and that is a shame.

: It was great. Should have been longer- more stuff with the band. Lee had enough screentime finally, but it still could have been more. I actually think he would have been better as Russel. Not that he wasn't great as Jeff Bebe, or that Crudup wasn't great. Lee would have just had more screentime as Russel.
: Hell, I'd watch Exit Wounds if Jason Lee has a 5 second cameo so I'm no judge.

: I think the Oscars are crap. Kate Hudson was good... but not the best actor in the movie!, IMHO. Crudup, Lee and Fugit were fantastic. She only got nominated because she's hot.
: Damn good flick.

: BTW, when I rented it, I had to pay 20 bucks in late fees for some crappy Wesley Snipes film my friend made me rent. So this movie cost me 25 bucks. But it was worth it.
