: : And something off-topic: Has anyone here installed a Direct TV system. For the past 2 weeks I've been mounting a dish, chopping down the nieghbors trees for a clear path to a satellite, drilling holes through every apartment of this 12 unit complex (which I hope the landlord won't find out), and making trips to Radio Shack to get all types of video equipement and I STILL DON'T GET NO MUTHERFUCKIN SIGNAL! Any help would be much appreciated. THANKS!

: First and foremost the dish must be absolutely level with the ground. Use a level to ensure this. A fraction of an inch will throw you hundreds of miles off course. You may have already done this. When I mounted my second dish, here is something that messed me up. I tried for two weeks and wound up paying $100 to have a DSS installer come in only to find it was mounted and pointed correctly and my cable was bad. Make sure your cables are good. If you ran the cable yourself when you put the connectors on the ends of the cable, make sure none of the wire sheathing is touching the center wire. This will short out the cable and no signal.
