Yeah, for right-wing extremist conservative moral types, maybe "stealing" a watch (by keeping and not returning it) and beating a man are the same things.
But in realist terms, which does worse harm? I doubt anybody will miss work over some stupid Goofy watch, whether by injury or by having to stand in some court room watching society play games over the just fate of criminal morons who deserve to spend time in jail. If losing a watch hurts you that much, you probably have issues.
I understand the value of a strict moral barometer, but I'll be the first to say that being over-moralistic puts people dangerously close to being self-righteous-- definitely not a good place to be.
