The story as I heard it is: Affleck & Damon gave the script to Kevin (whom Benny was already friends with due to the "Chasing Amy" gig, naturally) and asked him to please direct it. Smitty read it, liked it, but turned down the offer b/c according to him, he said he wasn't a good enough director visually to do the script justice. He did show it to Harvey Weinstein (Miramax head) who signed the boys to some kind of deal and presumably hooked them up with Gus Van Sant. Voila. And I think he got some kind of co-executive producer credit, which I couldn't tell you what that means. Question for anybody -- what the hell does an executive producer do, anyway? Your guesses are as good as mine.

Too much information, not enough common sense
: I got to thinking and I have heard someone talking about Kevin being involved in Good Will Hunting. I figured it was true, more or less, and wasn't exactly sure if he helped and if he did, what exactly he did. Does anyone (or you Kevin) know exactly what was contributed? I couldn't find the answer in the summaries, so sorry if it was there or has been answered numorous times. Thanks
