If so, then I think you really need to lighten up on what fictional characters "should" do. Kevin was trying to show a character who has been developed by writers like Denny O'Neil, Mike Grell and Chuck Dixon into being a pretty three-dimensional believable character (considering her origins) and having her give a speech about sticking to her abusive marriage for the sake of God's will would have been out of character.
Your desire to see protaganistic character agree with and express only your beliefs is unrealistic and unfair both to creators and to the majority of the world who doesn't share them or simply may be more open to reading about characters with a wide variety of experiences and beliefs.
