Maybe Vincent can answer this one. I have been wondering for quite a while about who actually chooses the music for all of the View Askew flicks. How much consideration is given to choosing the songs and determining if they fit the mood of the scene that they are in. In some cases it is absolutley perfect (Stay by Coal in Chasing Amy for example)
Also, I read that the rights to the music in Clerks cost more than the actual film itself so I presume that the decision for the music in that picture was made by a Weinstein brother or somebody?
