Usually, I don't comment when someone bashes either Kevin Smith or someone associated with him. I just ignore it. But this dude said something that was just insanely ignorant.
:Speaking of which, Jennifer, when exactly did you get bit by the "acting bug"? Why didn't you go just back to USA Today? Don't tell me you always aspired to be an actress and happened to marry a director who just happens to cast you in his films?:
When you get involved with someone, their hobbies usually become yours, especially if the relationship is taken to a "marriage" level. I've had countless friends in the loathed drama department who's girlfriends would have nothing to do with it, but gave it a shot after becoming involved, and now love it. Same for guys who were dating girls there.
Shit, even NOT on a school level. Above college even. Acting is a fun thing to do. Most people don't realize it or recognize it until they've actually done something on stage or on film.
Jen's also described one of the things that draws most everyone I know back to acting: comradrie between cast members. You work with someone that closely for so long, and you'll become friends. You'll become much closer than you would an average co-worker.
Did I spell comradrie right? Fuck if I know.
So here's my guess at what happened. Jen and Kevin got married because they love each other and he asked her if she wanted to be in the movie. Why shouldn't he? There was an extra part there, and hiring his wife would be a lot more fun than hiring some other actress. I doubt his wife would ask for a huge paycheck, as some stars do.
Not saying the other girls asked for huge paychecks.
Do you honestly think if Jen married Kevin to simply get into movies that she'd stick around with him during the Dogma religious fiasco. I mean, even *I* thought his number was up when everyone started protesting it. A faux marriage doesn't survive under circumstances like that. A real one does.
I've said my piece. And it will fade into board obscurity as "the post from the guy who tried to say something after Kevin reemed the motherfucker who insulted his wife." But oh well.
