Regards to J&SBSB could Kev have taken the picture elsewhere, rather then sticking with Miramax? I know Miramax has been "super fine" to Kev, but the higher powers above Miramax seem determined to fuck with him. I'm sure Kev could raise funding independantly with his reputation in the industry and would have no problems getting a deal with other studio's (I'd certainly invest money in a kevin smith flick, if I had any).
The Coens first film Blood Simple (budgeted at 1.5 million) was financially sourced through independant parties. Two unknown directors managed to convince various people to front up the cash for their film.
I couldn't see Kev having a problem.
