Owen was supposed to do a stunt at the May 23, 1999 WWF 'Over the Edge' Pay-Per-View where he would be lowered, in full Blue Blazer gear, into the ring via rope and harness. Unfortunately, the harness (which wasn't rigged right) gave, and Owen fell anywhere from 60-80 feet to his death.
A true fuckin' shame. He was one of the greats.
But you took Owen to a movie?
