I think the main problem over here in the UK is promotion. Nobody I know over here had ever heard of Kevin Smith, the View Askewniverse, or Jay & Silent Bob. Well, nobody except the "socially inadequate shop-staff" in my local comics store (guys that are fairly socially adequate actually). I discovered his works by chance when I bought Mallrats for a fiver on a bored Saturday and worked my way through Dogma, Clerks and Chasing Amy in that order over the next couple of weeks. I've introduced all my friends to the movies since then and they all love them. But like I said, they didn't know anything about VA before I forced it on them. Now, I know Kevin's not quite an A-list celeb over in the states, but at least the market is aware of him. There's lots of people here waiting to spend money on VA merchendise in British shops, they just don't know it yet, so the marketing people are failing to meet a demand that really, really wants to be there but can't.

I've now started getting the region 1 DVDs as you suggest, and as soon as I've got a DVD player to go with them, I'll sit and watch all four movies in order (assuming Dogma SE ever arrives, here or in the US...)

Dave.
