In CA, was the network execs' failed courting of Holden and Banky to make "Bluntman and Chronic" into an animated series an autobiographical allusion to the ABC network execs' successful courting of you to make "Clerks" into a cartoon series? If it was, thankfully (in your case) art doesn't always exactly imitate life.
