THE STENDHAL SYNDROME is an absolutely awful DVD- one of the worst DVDs ever released, bar none. Absolutely avoid it.
I've heard mixed things about the BIRD DVD (which I don't have, I have the Roan laserdisc release), but VCI generally does good work (their DVD of Mario Bava'a BLOOD AND BLACK LACE looks stunning) and nobody has called it an out-and-out "botch" although apparently one quick snippet of restored footage was placed in the wrong place, and the alternate audio track featuring the Ennio Morrocone score isolated is apparently defective. It's Argento's first film also and is quite good.
