Didn't you know, the only 'good' people in society are vegan, T-Total, non-smoking mothers married to their lesbian partners, who take the bus.
As for the rest of us, we're all damned.
(Why lesbian partners you ask? Because all men are evil of course! and if I didn't mention them I'd be being biased against them and America would have to drop this post from its reading lists).
I understand the point the teachers were making in the article, but surely there are a lot of privileged white males in American schools as well who aren't going to be able to empathise with the new books they are reading. Whereas everyone can relate to teen angst. As I'm sure that is the point of the book as opposed to Holden's upbringing.
