While I do hope Jason answers your question and can offer some insight/advice, it might be worth mentioning that he is a little extraordinary in that he was already something of a celebrity before he moved into acting. Since he was already a championship level skateboarder his name meant a little more to people than your average struggling actor.
I'm not saying he had it handed to him, just that you might want to open your question up to others in the ViewAskewniverse who might have broken into acting through more average channels.
