Yes, you always have to send in a pic, usually to a casting agency, like when I believe Mosser did dogma, and availability...
Unions are big now, what with the strike and threat of other strikes, its just for documentation to cover themselves and not cross each other...
As for sizes, that would have to do with wardrobe....
I wonder if there will be ewoks or something, that would be funny...either way kid,
