Personally I'd rather enjoy seeing Kevin's treatment of McDonald's Flynn series. Knowing Kevin's a fan of McDonald's writing, I wonder if he's considered this. Certainly a harder film to finance, but also less studio pressure re: casting, etc.
: I am thrilled at the prospect at someone doing the Fletch novels correctly. I know there has been talk of starting with Fletch Won. And I'll admit, chronological order has its advantages. But...
: Did you ever seriously consider starting with Fletch's Fortune? It was the first Fletch novel I stumbled upon and really hooked me on the series. It gave a solid grounding, and introduced relationships that I got to learn more about while reading novels that took place before it (future movies). I thought it was a great way to go with reading the books, and might be a great way to go with the movies. Look how well starting in the middle worked out for George Lucas... (Besides I can just see Affleck and Damon as the two corrupt 'FBI' agents.)
: Just my piddly thought for the day...
