: ...I don't see many people saying "Yeah, I saw Clerks when it came out, and I've been a fan of Kevin's ever since". For the most part, I see people saying "I saw Dogma for the first time last week, and I went out and rented the rest of Mr. Smith's films. He is awesome!! Then I found out about this site, so when is Clerks 2 coming out?"
Why do you have a problem with that? Just because you saw Clerks first (way back in the 6th grade!!) doesn't make you any better of a fan, or more of a fan, than these new kids who have just found Kevin's work.
: I feel like a pathetic loser when I'm around people who have only known about the greatness of The Kevin for only a few months, or weeks.
You're not even making any sense. Why would you feel pathetic about being a fan of somebody longer than everyone you know, when in the previous paragraph you're trying to brag by being one of the first fans of Kevin, or should I say THE Kevin.
: Personally, I saw Clerks when it came out (In Washington, D.C.) and have been a fan ever since. I still remember sitting in my sixth grade math class, telling the kids about "This kickass black and white movie about clerks who hate their customers and spit in their face, and have ex-girlfriends who fuck dead guys!", ahh, the memories.
Man, those other sixth graders should've listened to you! They would've been so cool by now just for following your advice, but instead they are being judged for discovering Kevin's work on their own terms.
: Anyway, in an attempt to try and find anyone who's been a fan as long as I have:
Don't even try. You win. You've been a fan of Kevin the longest. I seriously doubt anyone could even hold a candle to your 6th Grade eye for talent. So what do you win for this feat? You get to become a 17 year old nerd with self-esteem issues, who has to put down fellow Kevin Smith fans in order to prove his own self worth. As bonus prizes, you'll also get ridiculed and beat up routinely in the halls of your high school for being such a lameass loser. But from the looks of it, I don't think you're winning anything you don't already have.
