Perhaps Jay & Silent Bob aren't the kind of religious icons that Catholcism is used to, but they are pretty good comic idols or anti-idols. They reflect the ideal that we as viewers refuse to be, but yet, want to be. They have the audacity to do what they want, when they want, and how they want. They have no high expectations of life, and through Jay's cynical nature (We all know he likes to b***h) & Bob's unexpected soft side, they reflect contentment. Do any other characters represent that? For that matter, where in a religion, one as easliy accessible as The Jersey movies, can we find such unlikely people who are happy with their situations?
Maybe I'm off on this, though.
