i have a question about independant film making, i am planning on making my first film next year september, its a comedy, in which i want to spoof other films, but, if i'm spoofing other films who pays the royalties. me or the buyer of the film. for example, if i have a scene which spoofs robocop, and the robocop people want so and so royalties, who pays those.
i would think that if i sell my film then i shouldn't have to pay the royalties, but maybe this isn't the case, i've tried asking film companies, but no body seems to be able to give a straight answere, so i figured i should ask someone who's done it.
