I read that whole thread and your failure to grasp how incredibly wrong what you say is disturbs me most. Through it all, you still think that you have the right answer and the key to everything. "People just need to be nice". Who'da thunk of that one before?
By apologizing and making excuses for people who do things that are incredibly, inarguably wrong, you give people license to do it again. Perhaps if everyone was nice, Columbine would never happen again. Or perhaps kids would find something -else- to get upset about. But if the attitude about it is, "well, it's society's fault, not theirs", then the next time someone feels picked on, they no longer have to accept the blame for their actions if they take the AK into their lunchroom and light the place up. And that mindset comes from people like you, not from Tango and not from the bullies in Littleton.
Yeah, being nice and holding hands is a good dream. But when reality sets in and it doesn't happen, saying, "well, of course they want to shoot things because they're not holding hands and being nice" just gives people an excuse to do it all over again.
