: Like a bunch of folk on this board, I'd like to put together a movie of some sort. My question is about the soundtrack. Lets say that I find a piece of music that's appropriate to my story. How would I go about using that track if I don't have alot of funds to pay for music usage?

Don't quote me on this (alright, quote me on it, but don't follow the advice without adult supervision) but I'm sure incidental music doesn't count as being on a soundtrack ie. you could have it playing on a radio in the background instead of explicitly being part of the soundtrack.

Mind you, if it's a hip-hop track, you do stand a chance of getting a cap popped in yo' mother-fuckin' ass (as I believe popular 'beat talk' has it these days) instead of just getting sued.

Alternatively, make a Dogme 95 film. They eschew soundtracks and have the added bonus of getting you compared to Lars von Trier. Also, the BBFC will pass your film uncut even if it contains real! hardcore! penetration! which if you think about it is far better than some shitty song playing.

Incidentally, whomever? Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan....
