This could be a cool place, where people discuss their vaguely askew kind of views, instead of a place where some people can't spot a joke when it shits in their faces, and can't seem to stand the idea of people wasting space with off-topic posts and so feel the need to waste more space with bullying, unpleasant posts aimed to make newbies feel unwelcome (I've not yet been a victim of this - bring 'em on...)

Perhaps the unification of the two boards is what is needed to breathe life into my dream. But unification doesn't come without sacrifice. Remember that double episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation with Spock in it? His dad died. That's all I remember about it, but it's sacrifice, OK?

So the one side have to sacrifice their flaming.... yes, I know it's fun, I know it gives you a sense of power and comradeship and probably even adrenelin. But admit it, it really does make you one of the sadder creatures on this earth, doesn't it? You can only get that kind of aggression going when you are located a significant geographical distance from the subject of your anger.... hmmmm... Macho.

And the other side may have to sacrifice a bit of the freedom of discussion from the other board if they're going to post here. I can't see every memeber of this board joining in with the Mr Miyagi/Planet of the Apes debate, and I really wouldn't care about Kevin Smith's opinion on this subject if he bothered to post on the subject (yeah I know he wouldn't). So when Kevin et al are on the board, of course most people will shut up about which fictional martial arts expert can take on which fictional planet of intelligent simians, and with a bit of luck nobody'll mention Clerks 2. But in the meantime, let's ease up the atmosphere in here a bit, eh?

Smile, for fuck's sake, this is supposed to be fun....
