Definitely go to the 'Dam - it's one of the coolest cities in the world. Apart from the incredible grass and the wide variety of sex shows, the people are very friendly, they ALL speak English fluently and the city itself is beautiful - all traditional Dutch buildings and canals. The city centre is a half hour (cheap) train ride from Schipol Airport, and it's also one of those places where if you want to get somewhere but don't know where it is, you'll stumble across it just by wandering around.
London's great, but stupidly expensive at the mo. It's worth a visit if you find yourself flush with cash though. Don't know if you've been to Ireland or Wales, but they are most pleasant for a visit too.
