What do you mean the "prequel thing has been done to death" - in all honesty I can't thing of one series of comedy films that has had a prequel!!! And Smith has just picked a book to adapt that features a young Fletch - it's not like he's purposefully wrote a prequel screenplay himself. With that in mind it would be ridiculous to see Chevy in the part!!! It has to be Lee all the way (but it would be nice to have maybe book-ends to the film featuring Chevy)!!!
Whatever happens my faith in Smith as a guy who can churn out a quality product remains - so whatever he chooses to do I'll be happy!!!
