We need to use either the "Famliy" radios or regular CB radios. I found out that CB's work also, if you use the first 14 channels. Most of the Family ones have 14 channels, but some only have two.
Morotola makes the best (and most expensive) ones called "Talkabout". Sam's had them for $75 a pair which is a steal, and Wal-Mart usually has the cheaper "Ranger" ones. Most stores like Wal-Mart are good at taking returns, so someone COULD grab a pair to use for the trip, then return them later on... :>!
The bottom line: No radio in your car = no cool background stories on the places we visit...
