- and William Peter Blatty was wrong. While it was great to see THE EXORCIST on the big screen, most of the "new footage" was not only unneccessary, in some cases I think it made it a lesser film- especially that awful new ending. The new sound mix annoyed the hell out of me too.

I did like the new footage leading up to the exorcism though- the scene with Kitty Winn trying to drown out the sounds of the possessed Reagan, the scene between Merin and Chris McNeil, their short exchange on the stairs before the exorcism begins, and the dialogue between the priests on the stairs. Other than that, I much prefer the original cut of THE EXORCIST.
