Well, I'm not sure what they are saying, but...
The point is that the sole reason that people are so terrified about pot is because there was (and still is) a huge campaign to make people think that it's horribly dangerous. And it isn't. It's simply another drug. I'm not saying to trust the scientists completely. Use your own judgement. The government has absolutely no motivation to classify marijauana as a safe drug, especially since they've been saying the exact opposite for decades. So when they release findings declaring that it's not nearly as bad for you as they've been making it out to be, then you can probably take it as a sign that they're being honest.
As for respecting drugs? That means that you don't treat drugs like candy. You have some respect for the power that drugs have over your body. But you knew what I meant, right?
