I would think...

that after al lthe controversy kevin had with Dogma and all the BS he had to go through to get it made...He wouldnt touch Preacher with a 20' pole...

: Long, long ago, I was introduced to one of the most well-written and illustrated comics ever to come across my eyesight - "Preacher". The man who introduced me to this spectacular series was none other than you - yes, you, Mr. Smith. I believe it was the line printed above "Gone To Texas"'s title, reading "More fun than going to the movies!" or such. I remember thinking "Wow - Kevin fucking Smith loves this (not that I, like, worship you or anything)." Upon reading it, I realized why - "Preacher" is more fun than a ship full of barrels of crack-hyped monkeys with uzis. No other comic book (save, possibly, the "Sandman" books) ever captured my full attention enough to force me to read the entire damn book in one sitting. So, upon completion, I went out to find more. At the time, the only other collections available were "Until the End of the World" and "Proud Americans". Oh, how great it was to not only enjoy yet another collection, but to see an introduction by none other than the "first" promoter of this fine work of art.

: You're probably wondering what my damned point is. Well, I'm getting to it; just wait a moment...

: ...

: ...

: Damn. Guess you could probably tell from my fucking subject line. Oh, well; on with my bullshit. I have absolutely no idea whether you have ever given it thought, or have been approached about it, but...
: Would'nt it be the best collaboration in the history of entertainment (besides Blatty and Freidkin on "The Exorcist")if you were to adapt "Preacher" for the big screen? I've heard rumors about others taking on the task, but they'd probably fuck it up horribly. Sure, you were burned by those assholes at Warner Brothers in search of the almighty dollar, but that was an entirely different piece of comic book literature!
: For instance:
: 1. You have already tackled religion head on with "Dogma" (and no, I'm not and atheist that thinks you must obviously be one as well).
: 2. You have expressed your own love of the comic to the thousands of fans that read "Preacher" (yeah, most of us buy the collections even though we own every issue, just for the cool new cover art).
: 3. Studio honchos wouldn't be so concerned with changing much in terms of story or dialog for this sort of comic - I mean, it already screams for such a translation. You may have to work on mass acceptance (i.e. more boob shots, more language, more booze, etc.), but whoopy-fucking-doo, right?!
: 4. Somebody needs to do this fucking movie, man... And not only are you a "Preacher" fan, but you are comic book fan, period, that most certainly love to see a great comic given great treatment.

: Just thought you should mull it over for a while. Think about it - if it were even a marginal hit (shouldn't cost too much; not a lot of visual effects would be involved - unless a bunch of unnecessary shit is added), you'd have a franchise, with enough money to send your fucking grandchildren to college. Hell, you could send their asses to any school they pleased!

: Lastly, if not a movie, how about a maxi-series (being that it has already ended - August 2000 was the last issue, I believe).
