The problem here, as my compatriots at Wizard: The Crap (I mean, Comic) Magazine are very quick to point out, is the fact that what works in comics, does not always work in cinema and vice-versa. Certain things about the comics needed to be changed/simplified/eliminated to make the movie pallatable to a wider audience. I mean, let's face it: Superman is a weekly publication with 60 years of history behind it. If we tried to make a movie based on the stories as they're told in the comics, we'd have only comics readers watching the flick, because nobody else would understand the ideas.

Granted, the Superman flicks have been abominable for the most part and I'm not saying that they did a *good* job, but picking on comic-book-cinema for not jiving with continuity gets you nowhere and, to be blunt, only makes you come off sounding like Walt the Fanboy when someone who is not a Superman reader (i.e. 5.9998 billion people on the planet) reads your post.

Of course, that's just my opinion; I could be wrong.

Finest kind,

Russ
