Kev, I manage a small punk rock band in LA called The Jizzmoppers. We're not attached to a label yet, but we recently got enough funding to master and release a CD to market. I'd like to use a small sound byte from "Clerks" at the beginning of the CD that explains how our band got its name. The part where Randall asks "Do you know how much the average jizzmopper makes per hour?" and Dante replies, "What's a jizzmopper?"

I don't have much experience with legalities (thank God!) but would this be a small enough sound byte that it would be considered okay to use under general law as long as the source was credited? If not, who would I need to speak with for permission to use the clip?

Play this right, Kev, and you just might be able to brag to all your friends that you got a Special Thanks in our album!

Sincerely,

Justin Q. Ramond
