Seeing that you're overseas unless you got your DVD player in America/Canada and brought it over to wherever you are, you won't be able to play any DVDs encoded with region 1. You would have to purchase a version of the DVD with your region encoding on it. So in other words, go to whatever your version of Circuit City or Best Buy is over there.
