You might want to look at past boards from this site. Many to most have plenty of nuggets from the people in red down to the lowly posters. This is one of the most underused sites on the web. Take an afternoon and go read the advice others have given.

Outside of that, go read Rebel Without a Crew. Books written by people who did it are usually useful.
Then again, there's nothing better than actually going out there and doing it. Just keep crankin' them out. There are plenty of new sites that feature shorts now and folks are getting deals out of the exposure.

As far as writers block, I remember reading once, a long long time ago that Kevin locked himself in his apartment with some cold cereal and made himself come up with the goods. Out of personal experience, if you wait for inspiration to strike, you might be waiting a while. Force yourself to write something everyday, spend at least 1/2 hour writing. You may find the stymies gone. Keep a notebook, jot down interesting stuff that happens throughout the day. Just keep on it.

There is no substitute for hard work and credit cards.
