If your camera is a decent one and you're really aching to do this film then you should go digital. But if you've got some time and it won't take you long to save up that much, use a 16mm. The thing is, if you go for the 16mm that'll involve getting other lenses, special editing equipment, etc. and unless you're ready to save up for ALL of that, I'd suggest going right back to your good old Hi8. Worst comes to worst, you make the film and in a while when you've got the money you do it again higher quality. Though of course depending on where you live there are plenty of places to rent all that equipment for a good price and you do that instead.

Best of luck,
