So, my husband and I strongly urged my parents to see "Dogma" and they took our advice (even after we had made some movie recommendations they didn't much like). Tonight we were over at their house and they both tossed out a couple of questions. By the way...they REALLY liked the movie!
1) (from my mother) She thought that there was a very strong Catholic influence in the (writing of) movie. Did you ever attend Catholic school or Catholic church services?
2) (from my dad) Why are there angels? (He does not mean why there are angels in the movie, but why do you think angels (may) exist? or do you think angels exist?)
Anyway, they were very impressed by the plot and character development. And my mom said (earlier) that she thought it was really, very funny! That made me feel good...that they enjoyed it. I finally didn't get reamed by my parents over a movie suggestion. That's the first time in a few months. Thanks for that!
My parents are pretty uptight about language in movies and we had a hard time getting them to sit through "Clerks" (which I still think that if they gave it half a chance they would like it), but with "Dogma" they didn't seem too hung up on language. *sigh of relief* They really are hard to read people. Anyway, if you could answer those two questions, I would really appreciate it. It would make for interesting conversation at dinner next week. =)
Thanks,
mrsj
