: this was mentioned before and kevin actually responded. He said he noticed that to (the silent/profound charcter) but wasn't sure if it was a coincidence or a dubious compliment.
I think it might be a little bit of both.
My thought was that Vinnie Jones was present to balance out the British type-casting of Chris Eccleston as the tunnel-envisioned baddie.
We'll have to wait for Dom. Sena's commentary to know how early in the script-writing that Sphinx was meant to be a silent character. My thought was that he was written in as a mute to cover his ultra-thick Brit.-twang, and that perhaps late in the game, Silent Bob was used as a long-shot inspiration to actually give the lovely-voiced bloke a fine line.
Here's my question (since I missed that thread entirely): What did the members of ViewAskew (Kevin, Vincent, Bryan, Brian...and sometimes Ethan...etc.) think of "Gone In 60 Seconds."
While waiting for [none of yo' damn business] in Reno, I ended up watching that thing four times over five days (yes!!)...
I could explain it...but you'll have to hop over to Film-411 tomorrow (or thereabouts) for details...
Bottom line: I think that this is an anemically-scripted project, over-produced...and yet, somehow, I believe that God must've smiled on this one and allowed Sena, Breckheimer et al. some fine cinematic "synergy," because I liked the characters and the pacing enough to buy the goofy story...
I liked enough that I bristle a bit when I hear or read hard-dissings of the flick (go to heck, Harry Knowles!!! shame on you, of all people!!!)
Oh, and Kevin...and Vincent...
Would either of you ever dream of getting Rob Duvall, Delroy Lindo or even Nic. Cage into one of your flicks?
