First, a simple opinion question for anyone interested on Chasing Amy. In the last sequence, the girl sitting next to Alyssa (the one who says Who was that? about Holden), is she meant to be Alyssa's new lover? Just a friend? The impression I got (and I've watched the film MANY times) is that it is a lover of Alyssa's, from another circle of life (which is why she doesn't 'get' comic books etc). Thoughts?
The other question is slightly more serious, and for Kevin Smith or another person who would know...I have some involvement with amateur drama (I live in Australia by the way) and Chasing Amy really struck me by how well it would translate to the stage - mainly because of the number of speaking parts, and the way the sets in which the action takes place could translate to the stage.
Anyway, the question is, what copyright / other hurdles have to be overcome before I could right a stage treatment of the film? Obviously, acknowledgements etc, but what else is involved. My main concern is not to invest a lot of time and effort in the adaption and then find out that no-one can read it or see it etc.
Any thoughts??
