I don't think he would ask God to forgive him and then thank Her if She didn't. But that's just my interpretation.
Maybe She DID send him to nothingness, which is what he seemed to desire for a while, but I tend to think she reaccepted him into the divine presence -- because hey, if God is perfection, there's no one irredeemable regardless of how evil their actions. She's got the power & technology, as Metatron says, to make anyone better. It's like the old riddle, can God make a rock He can't lift -- can God make a soul She can't redeem? I've already written books about this on the board for no ultimate purpose so I'll just leave it at that.
