Hey there. I just woke up to the news.
Within the past year, ABC has made damn awful programming decisions -- especially when it comes to new shows. It seems that of late they've been yanking new shows if results (i.e. "ratings" which don't mean a fucking thing in the first place...ooo, so the x-million people with Nielsen boxes are watching reruns of "Touched By an Angel"...big fucking deal) aren't QUICK and positive. What...is ABC out for instant success? Fuck man...if
HALF the shows on other stations were yanked after a couple of episodes, they wouldn't be on today (Look at "Futurama". The first episode sucked. FOX gave it a chance and it's damn funny now.) Things take fuckin' time to establish themselves.
ABC yanked "Oh Grow Up!" and "Then Came You" (Two pretty good concepts--personally I liked "Oh Grow Up!" for the young girl's bitingly sarcastic attitude and Rena Sofer's drunken ex-wife of a gay man schtick but I digress) before they even got the chance to get really good. I'm not sure about "Then Came You", but I know that OGU had a great fan following (it was so much better than "Men Behaving Badly", though it WAS about...well, men behaving badly).
Okay, I had my doubts about "Clerks". Let's face it--"Clerks" w/o the swearing just isn't "Clerks". The first episode sucked. But the second episode [that ABC aired] was pretty fuckin' funny. I was REALLY looking forward to taping the rest of the "season".
Isn't there anything you can do? Like shlep it over to FOX? Get rid of that fuckin' "Family Guy" crap...who the hell wants a cartoon version of Archie Bunker and a talking dog/baby (what the hell is that crap)? The rest of their animations should stay (including "The PJs", but I hear they're moving to the WB) and they should pick up "Clerks" for their line-up. That's JMHO.
