: : Dude....you are so misguided. Your logic is circular at best. You are inferring that JC was absoulte power..therefore he was corrupted....Dogma doesnt necessarily question the bibles accuracy...it just questions the fact that every single thing in it should not be taken literally.
: Ok... i believe i said jesus was a cool dude, that he did some groovy funkadelic things and believe that he may have had a special hand in achieving what he did. But the idea of having a son of god is pure fantasy, folk lore mumbo jumbo. I do not base my argument on a few books, i base them on common sense. Im sorry if i confused but i meant to say that man has used the bible to corrupt the fellow man, or should that be person ( onya Gene Roddenberry ). By not taking every single fact in the bible LITERALLY would to me, suggest that it must not all be correct then, that it therefor is not accurate. I am not saying that its all a crock of crap, but im open to a better soloution, one for our times. Back then there wasnt any such thing as an alien, because there wasnt even a solar system. Astronomy did not really exist. However, the egyptian pyramids were built with many references to the stars, but why did it take so many thousands of years for people to actually relaise the whole star thing. Because they were built as a message, a starting point.
: : JC was not a magician ala David Copperfield and or an alien...this is just asinie college starbucks banter....You read a couple books and you think you are an authority on religion??? Buckwheat!!
: You have little evidence to prove he was not a magician, just some old story yarns that say he was the son of god. I do not think i am the authority on religion, i am its worst nightmare. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I think logically, and use science as a means of coming to a logical conclusion. Religion is pure fantasy and i really think its selfish to believe that we as humans are the single most important fucking thing in the universe.
: : By the way neanthrdal man was around along fucking time before the Bible was...It was edited to give them more power...Dude you are talking out your arse...you really have no idea what it is you are saying.....you are more akin to Jethro on crystal-meth....get over yourself...You have manged in a matter of a few weeks on this board....to time and time again make a complete ass of yourself.....really it is embarrassing...
: You obviously arent a fan of "Army of Darkness" as I stole the neandothols bit from that movie from the character ash. Im thinking he may have only said primitives but you get the idea. Back in ye olden days people were impressionable, much like today, and everything was through word of mouth, so things would tend to be.. exagerated, to make for exciting gossip. With this you also have a thing called interpretation. If you were neandothol man and a satelite flew over head you would percieve it as a moving star, because a satellite was not in the whole human concept thingy. History is like the borg, its a collective of truths and its a collective of lies, but its a collective of experiences and until one experiences ( as in space flight ) the concept must be interpretated into the experiences already known.
: : God didnt have a child Mary and Joseph did....
: So the tale goes...
: : Cannot one think for one second how someone with todays technology at that time could lead people to believe he was more then an ordinary man.
: : I really cant make any sense of this...sounds like you got a vulcan mind meld from TIIIMMMYYY!!
: Is it not possible that if you had technology from today and where dumped back around the time of jesus you would be able to give people the impression you were a superior human being. Its like ASH in Army of darkness.. they see him as the chosen one, and he too has wonderful technology that allows them to defeat the dedites.
: : Your waxing philosphical bullshit lends no creed to your arguement...You bore me.....
: Well sorry to bore you, but i accept no refunds.

: : : Its because the film End of Days doesnt have any, might we say, negative references to the bible (which to the catholic league is the centre of the universe). It only reinforces the fact that you need the bible or the devil will get your soul. Dogma looks at the bible as being not as precise and perfect as they would like us to believe. Sure it only twists things around that are harmless to anyone with a sense of humour but it questions the bibles accuracy, which i totally agree with. It is the word of man, not god. I'm very sure Jesus lived, and that he was a cool dude, but man cannot be trusted. They say power tends to corrupt. Absolute power corrupts absoloutly. The bible, back in the days of the primitve neanderthols that lived before us, was a source of power so more then likely it was edited to give these primitives more power.
: : : To go on record the whole idea of God having a child is just silly. God is the universe, the universe is my creator.. who created the universe... the universe has always been here.. and always shall because life exists, or there would be nothing. You cant have nothing when there is something. Jesus was either 1) a magician ( david copperfield is the 2nd coming ) or 2) an alien hybrid. Cannot one think for one second how someone with todays technology at that time could lead people to believe he was more then an ordinary man.

: : : : Already I am asking myself, where is William Donohue when we need him? Why does his Catholic League attack a sweet comedy like ``Dogma,'' but give a pass to ``End of Days,'' in which we learn that once every 1,000 years a woman is born who, if she is impregnated 20 years later by the Prince of Darkness during the hour from 11 p.m. to 12 a.m. on the last day of the millennium, will give birth to the anti-Christ, who will bring about, yes, the end of days? But meanwhile, an internal Vatican battle rages between those who want to murder the woman, and the pope, who says we must put our faith in God?
