The news isn't a surprise in light of the defection of ''Sabrina, the Teenage Witch'' to the WB next season and word that ABC is re-evaluating the future of its ``TGIF'' franchise. Most prognosticators had assumed that the show was in its last season.

An hour-long ``Boy Meets World'' finale will air Friday, May 5, at 8 p.m. In the episode, ``A Brave New World,'' the series' main couple (played by Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel) contemplate moving to New York.

Since its debut in 1993, ``Boy Meets World'' has been a strong teen performer but has suffered in the major Nielsen measurements as ``TGIF's'' audience declined. Season to date, ''Boy'' has averaged a 3.1 rating among adults 18- 49 and a 5.9 rating/11 share in homes.
