No, wait, Neil. Calm down. I was "JOKING". You're all man.
: I thought it was implied in the definition of a joke that it somehow be recognizable to the person the joke is aimed at. I am relatively familiar with a variety of humor and your post showed no evidence of any of them. You can't just say something stupid and when someone calls you on it say you're joking. I know 5 year olds who find that immature.
You're a veteran of this board. Surely you've heard of this exchange:
-1st Guy says something, which may or may not in reality, be witty and acerbic, or may or may not in reality, be intended as sarcasm.
(For the record, mine was.)
-2nd Guy says 'that's wrong'
-1st guy says 'Ize bein' sarcastic. Duh.'
-2nd guy says 'weeeellll... sorry!'
It's a time-honored tradition. Glad to see we're keeping it up.
Moving on...
: Ok, I'm recognizing the form of a joke, although a poorly put together one, however it seems altogether humorless.
(SARCASM MODE ON)
I'm sad now.
I will note that I think that large sections of the bible are indeed fiction in a broader sense. I also think that all of Paradise Lost is.
They're both literary works, fiction or no. So is Dogma. All of which have a loyal following, but (I think) only one whose followers purport it to be fact. Kind of a contrast implied in my "JOKE" between people who take Dogma seriously (me) and people who take the Bible 100% literally (not that there's anything wrong with that).
: : Ass.
: Oh, no! Don't make me cry!
Are you being sarcastic? I'm sorry if I did make you cry. Gissahug.
Making friends and influencing people,
