Now the funny part about that is that before he converted to Muslim (or is Islam) Kareem's name itself was entirely different. I believe that his birth name was Louis Alcindor. Just another worthless fact I could probably only use on Jeopardy (if they would let me on-those bastards!).Perhaps this is why he would sue over it since it is the name the world identifies with his personage, which is the product by which he makes his living now. Although I think it is neat if the football player's birthname is Kareem Abdul Jabar in honor of "true" Kareem, because how likely is it that the kid would be famous in his own right too? I am surprised that more people don't seem to share a name with someone famous. Take two relatively common names like "Michael" and "Jackson", which you would think would be a pretty common combination, and yet in all my life I only have met one person whose name was Michael Jackson...just some average dude who rented at the Blockbuster I worked at. Yup...weird...
