I'm posting up here because I'm afraid that my post will get lost in the mix and won't be read by anyone.
That was probably one of the funniest, greatest, tightest rants I have ever read in my entire life. That was so dead-on, I can't commend you enough.
Now, I might be bashed as a View-Askew atheist, but I did like that certain death-wish movie that begins with "M." But it should've been cut down SEVERELY. It didn't deserve its 3hrs. length. Like I always said about THE THIN RED LINE: "It's a two hour movie stuck in the body of a three hour movie."
I may have liked that movie, but I'm starting to seriously dislike the maker very much. Why?
Well, if that incident you spoke of where he got in Weinstein's face and bashed CIDER HOUSE is true (and I know you'd never lie to us), then he should be kicked off the planet Earth for that. I'm saying this because you just don't do shit like that and (I'm boldly saying this because I think I'm the only one in this category) I really liked CIDER HOUSE. Maybe not well enough to nominate it for best picture, but it was certainly a well-acted, competently made film. And you just don't do shit like what he did.
Oh well. That's all. Just wanted to vent a little. It's been a rough day. If I've offended or pissed off anyone by the content of this post, I heartily apologize.
