There were many episodes of Star Trek with aliens that were "blobs of goo". Some were made of rock, some were mist form, some were pure energy, etc. So please shut up. This argument will never be put to rest. Star Trek has a thirtysomething year history with several hundred episodes as well as 9 movies, whereas Star Wars has four movies.
Star Trek is more cerebral and is geared more toward smart audiences. Star Wars is just a fun popcorn movie. It's all personal taste.
: personally i just dont buy that every alien species even in completely uncharted territory speaks english (voice translator thingy or not!) and has ships fully loaded with a captain's chair and video screens. i also find it offensive that most stand upright and have thumbs. im surprised not more of them are slobbering blobs of yellowish-purple goo. even tho picard was a badass.
