While i do believe that 'rats two is a great concept, and should be pushed and pursued more than the original sailing of the titanic,i have yet come to another astonishing realization........ one that saddens me deeply....
'rats is a cult classic..... it's been said... it is..... and that's where i came to this realization.......
let's take another cult classic..... The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which i am a fan of... (braces for the flame)[hey, RHPS had it's moments] it has a great cult following, and people highly anticipated the "sequel" Shock Treatment... while not actually a sequel, but it followed the denton duo (comparable to our own dynamic duo) into another parallel universe of sorts..... but guess what happened...... it bombed harder than hiroshima and nagasaki........ and this is why i don't believe that the whole "sequel that's not a sequel" thing is destined to work.... it's the rules.... take a cult classic.... try to make another aimed at the same demographic, while at the same time trying to draw in newcomers.... it's just bound not to work.....
and this is where i become HyPoCRiTe RaTT, because i believe that kevin can make the sequel happen.......... and maybe even the "sequel that's not a sequel"....... but the sequel would make more sense to be pursuing..... maybe the same cast, maybe a different cast...... but a totally new story line without going into a proverbial austin powers recycled catch phrase tail spin........
i've probably lost each and every one of you during the span of this diatribe, but if you've been kind enough to read it.... and know where i'm coming from, maybe you can relate........
